YOUTHHOUSE AND EMMAUS

Emmaus is a worldwide movement (more than 350 groups in 38 countries) of people that “help first those that suffer most”. The movement started in 1949 in France by abbé Pierre, priest and member of the parliament.

The members of Emmaus in Eindhoven and the neighbours, the sisters of love, live or work with refugees. It is a community for living and working where the love for the neighbour is important. The residents of Emmaus collect second hand goods in the city of Eindhoven and sort them out on the market. Selling is done on Saturdays. The profit is spent to small projects here and in the third world.

The Youthhouse has a relation with the community of Emmaus in Eindhoven. We are different but related. The Youthhouse is like Emmaus. At Emmaus all residents are young or old, at the Youthhouse only youngsters live. Emmaus helps us by offering voluntary work on their market for refugees.
